Admiral is a high alpha hop breed from Challenger and Northdown at Wye College in the UK.
It has intense resinous flavour notes of orangey citrus along with a herbal character.
It works well in all parts of the brewing process from the start of the boil where it provides an assertive resinous bitterness through to the end of the boil and dry hop where it imparts its wonderful resinous orangey citrus and herbal flavours and aromas.
It works very well in Pale Ales and ESBs.
Chapel Down employs Admiral almost exclusively in its Curious Porter due to its outstanding bittering abilities.
