Munich Dunkel is a malt oriented German dark lager. It is a rich complex beer with flavours of warm toasty bread crust and rich caramel and toffee. Despite the malt forward flavour, Munich Dunkel has a dry finish and does not come across as overly sweet making it a very sessionable beer.
Traditionally Munich Dunkel would have been made using a decoction mash to encourage the Maillard reactions that help give the beer its rich malty flavours. The ATF Munich Dunkel uses a small amount of Aurora Malt to help provide the maltiness typical of the style.

Note on Dry Hopping
We recommend reducing the temperature of the beer to 16℃ before dry hopping to reduce the risk of the dry hop causing additional fermentation (dry hop creep) and increasing the ABV of the beer above the target 3.1%.
When cooling the beer we recommend capping the fermenter and using co2 to apply positive pressure (inside the fermenter) to avoid air being sucked in as the beer cools and shrinks as this may oxidise the beer.

Introducing the NZ Pale Ale: A Sensory Journey of Hop Excellence!
With a harmonious blend of Taiheke hops on the hot side and dry-hopped with the dynamic trio of Riwaka, Nectaron, and Nelson Sauvin hops, this beer delivers an extraordinary hop-forward experience that will captivate your senses.
The combination of Gladfield Light Crystal and Toffee malt, beautifully layered upon a base of American Ale malt, creates a sturdy foundation for the hops to shine. This grain bill contributes a subtle sweetness and a touch of caramel complexity, complementing the hop profile without overpowering it.
With each sip, you'll discover the remarkable flavours that these hops bring to the forefront. The Taiheke hops, added during the whirlpool, mimicking hop dipping, infuses the beer with a vibrant burst of citrus zest, lime and grapefruit, tantalising your taste buds from the first sip.
The dry hopping takes the flavour experience to new heights as the Riwaka hops provide distinctive grapefruit and resinous notes, the Nectaron hops contribute juicy tropical and stone fruit flavours, and the Nelson Sauvin hops add a distinctively vinous and white wine-like character, with hints of gooseberry and passion fruit.
Balancing the hop intensity is a moderate bitterness that showcases the hops' full potential without overwhelming the palate. The result is a beer that offers a harmonious interplay between the vibrant hop flavours and the smooth, malt-driven body, ensuring a balanced and enjoyable drinking experience.
