This will be a reliable staple for me in the future. I wasn't in a hurry with this brew, so it had plenty of time in the fermenter and 14 days conditioning in the keg. Lovely hop aroma and flavour with the bitterness I would expect from and APA.
I've made six different ATF beers -and everyone has been well received by family and friends - they've all been excellent quality comparable with any craft beer you buy. The Belgian Dubbel is one of the favourites, good body, smooth, rich colour, good malt flavours with a hint of toffee. As ever the instructions help.
These heat pads are the best. They last for years, and I needed to purchase another to replace the much older ones. I have used them successfully with fermentaion & brewing of various things from Apple cider, Kombucha, rizing bread dough, homemade wine & beer. Just a good reliable means for all sorts of home made goodness.
Was short of time so I brewed an extract batch instead. This has come out fantastic. I'm about 1/2 way through the keg now. I think its come out better than the all grain clone to be honest (not blaming the reciepe), look forward to brewing it again. I do wonder how it would go with some water science additions?
As I'm setup to brew proper all grain batches I actually boiled the wort after stepping the grains, this is something I've done in the past with lagers made from extracts. Then the temp has been bought down to the proper temp for pitching. Pressure fermented, tastes great, one of my best!
Just made a bottle really nice dark rum smell and taste
Meant to give this 5 stars.
The fruity nose hits with passion fruit mangos and a spicy aroma, next the soft malt hits your palette followed by a dry finish. Eminently drinkable, a firm favourite for spring days.
We've been making APA for years at the Occasional Brewer in Wellington and stopped once it moved - so this was our first APA attempt having bought the Grainfather G30 and reassuringly our investment has paid off -this is the best APA we've ever made. Rave reviews from all our friends.
Our first brew as beginners using Grainfather G30 brewing 24L and what a lovely Pilsner it is, as described it's clean soft with a malty sweetness.
We made the mistake of ordering only packet of yeast and our bottle beer it seemed to take 3-4 weeks to finish the second ferment in the bottle - maybe these two things are related???
Although as newbie's we realise never added enough litres in the Sparge so ended up with only 20L and 7.4% alcohol.
But after 4weeks in the bottle - it's one of the best Pilsner's I've tasted.
Wonderful citrus hop flavours without any residual bitterness. Beautiful lemon/grapefruit colour. I brewed and drank this in the winter but probably better suited to a summer time brew. Definitely do it again.
This is the first time I have tried and AFT and am very pleased with the colour and flavour. I am about to brew another batch.
product is so close to original that unless you have both to compare no one would know the difference. 5x stars ....cheers.
Tasty stuff. Used it for an imperial milk stout to balance it out with a bit of sweetness. Worked a treat.
I added extra hops, of the same as those included in the kit, for additional flavour. This is one of my favourite Red IPA brews and has always been delicious.
This stout pours dark as midnight with a velvety tan head, inviting you into a bold and bittersweet experience. The first sip reveals a full-bodied richness, smooth yet assertive, with layers of deep roasted character that unfold like pages in a well-worn novel. Notes of dark chocolate and espresso dominate, balanced by a subtle sweetness that never overstays its welcome. As the journey continues, a firm bitterness rises to meet the malt, finishing clean and dry with a lingering echo of roasted cacao and coffee bean. A robust, contemplative stout that delivers intensity with elegance.
I brewed and fermented this in my GF30 system. I split the final product into bottles and keg. Both are fantastic after 3 weeks from packaging. Luscious tropical flavours and aroma that fill my garage after a pour. I asked my non-beer drinking wife to try some and tell me what she could taste...pineapple mango was her response. Great finish with no unpleasant aftertaste. Beautiful colour. I'll do this one again.
Southern Pilsner is a refreshing take on the classic pilsner, infused with the bold hop character that defines New Zealand-style brewing. Right from the pour, it presents a pale golden hue with a crisp white head, inviting you in with bright citrus aromas—think zesty lemon with a subtle tropical fruit backdrop.
The first sip delivers a smooth balance of light malt and vibrant hops. Hints of creamy honey add a touch of sweetness, but the real star is the dry, crisp finish that keeps it refreshing and highly drinkable. The interplay between citrus zest and gentle malt makes this an excellent choice for those who appreciate a pilsner with a modern, hoppy twist. Perfect for warm afternoons or pairing with fresh seafood, this brew is both approachable and full of character.
Brewed on the BZ 4.1 and fermented under 12 psi.
Rebel IPA is a shining example of the American IPA style, showcasing the bold character of modern New World hops. Pouring a bright amber, it greets you with an explosion of orange and grapefruit citrus aromas, complemented by earthy, spicy, and piney undertones that add depth and intrigue.
On the palate, it delivers a crisp, smooth bitterness that’s perfectly balanced by a clean malt backbone. The fermentation profile is refreshingly clean, allowing the hops to take center stage without distraction. A dry finish ties everything together, leaving you eager for the next sip.
Rebel IPA is a masterfully crafted brew that highlights the creativity and complexity of hop-forward American IPAs.
Brewzilla 4.1 and fermented under pressure at 12 psi.
D’Or Bière de Garde is a true testament to French brewing artistry. This deep gold saison is visually stunning, glowing with a rustic elegance. The aroma greets you with subtle fruity notes that hint at the complexity to come. On the palate, it’s remarkably smooth, offering a thick, luxurious mouthfeel that feels almost velvety.
The flavor is bold and strong, yet balanced, with fruity undertones dancing alongside a malty sweetness and a whisper of spice. This artisanal brew carries a sense of tradition, crafted to be a beer for keeping, allowing its flavors to develop and mature with time.
Rich, tasty, and complex, D’Or Bière de Garde is the perfect choice for those who appreciate a hearty yet refined saison that celebrates the heritage of French brewing.
This was the first recipe kit I ordered from ATF after a longtime buying from elsewhere. It was by far the tastiest brew I have made and now sits at #1 on high rotation in my brewing schedule. ATF recipes only in my brewery going forward
Always been a fan of Supercharger and this is bloody close to it. Only problem is it keeps disappearing from the kegerator!!
