I can’t fault this kit. I have only received the highest of compliments about this beer, especially from my son. I made two alterations.
First.y - in addition to the 50gm mix of hops provided I added 20 gms of Green Bullet hops ( the original hop used in Steinlager) . And the only other thing I did was ferment this in winter without using the heater pad. As it involves a lager yeast I felt safe in keeping the temp as low as possible 14 to 18 degrees and only switched the heater pad on if the fermentation stalled. I kept this in its primary fermentation bucket for three or four weeks. Then racked over and held it in bulk for a further three weeks before bottling. A slow cold fermentation works a treat with this. Once in the bottle - leave it for at least three or four months...the alchemy of bottle flavour development just gets better. I’m starting another one now for the spring festival.
