Sodium Metabisulphite is a sulphur based compound that is used primarily to sterilise wine and cider, and in beer making to kill bacteria and to inhibit the growth of most wild yeast. It can also be used to eliminate both free chlorine and the more stable form, chloramine, from water.
Use 50 grams of sodium metabisulphite to 4.5 litres of cold water and wash your equipment in the solution. Allow the equipment to stand for 1 hour to dry then rinse with clean cold water.
