Irish Stouts are a black beer with a pronounced roasted flavour, often similar to coffee. The balance can range from fairly even to quite bitter, with the more balanced versions having a little malty sweetness and the bitter versions being quite dry.
The ATF Extract Recipe - Irish Stout has an great aroma of roasted coffee with hints of delicate floral notes from the East Kent Goldings hops.. With a light body, low ABV, and dry moderate bitter finish, this beer is very very drinkable all year round.
This kit includes malt and hops that require steeping.

New Zealand Pilsner style was first created by Richard Emerson. It is a lighter version of a European Pilsner, with a malt base designed to showcase the NZ hops. The distinctive fresh, fruity flavours of Riwaka, Motueka and Nelson Sauvin hops are the highlights of this refreshing beer. enjoy with fish and chips on the beach.
This kit includes:
- 1.5 kg Brick Road Dry Lager
- 1.5 kg Brick Road Dry Lager
- 1 x 11.5g Fermentis W 34/70 Yeast (12 ℃-18℃), or LalBrew Diamond Lager (10 ℃-15℃), or Lalbrew NovaLager (10 ℃-20℃)
- 30 g Riwaka
- 30 g Nelson Sauvin
- 30 g Motueka
Instructions

Clean and sanitise fermenter, spoon, cup and jug.

Soften the malt can in hot water for about 5 minutes.

Pour 2 litres of boiling water into your 5L jug. Open the can and pour the contents into the jug.

Mix the concentrated wort and water well, then pour into your fermenter. Top up with cold quality brewing water to 20L for approx. 5.0% ABV. Vigourously stir the wort with a large spoon to oxygenate it. Ensure the wort temperature is 12℃-18℃. Sprinkle the yeast into the wort.

Seal the fermenter lid and insert airlock. Ideally ferment at 12℃-18℃ 10 - 14 days.

Dry hop with all the hops on day 5.

After 10-14 days, check the gravity. If the SG remains steady for three days, fermentation is complete. If in doubt, leave a few more days for better results. Keg or bottle your brew.
The ATF Colonial IPA has a balance of spicy, floral, and light citrus aromas and flavours on a light toasty malt base with a slight creamy honey like mouthfeel and a firm balancing bitterness leading to a dry finish.
Yeast is not included in the kit. We recommend using Mangrove Jack's Liberty Bell yeast, or you could also try Lallemand Verdant IPA.
Base Malt
Also known as: Pale and/or Lager Malt
Gladfield Pilsner Malt is made from English and European bred barley varieties. Only plump low-protein barley are used to make our Pilsner Malt. This style of barley produces higher extracts and helps eliminate potential protein haze issues in the beer.
Our carefully controlled kilning gives a clean malty character without adding too much colour. Pilsner or Lager Malt can be used to produce ales as well as lagers. This malt does have sufficient diastatic power to convert the addition of 10–20% coloured malts to the mash, but it is not designed for large amounts of unmalted adjuncts.
Brewers should also note that it is important that the mash pH is controlled properly to obtain the best efficiencies and outcomes in the finished beer.
Use: As a base malt for any beer style. It is light in colour and imparts a sweet, clean flavour when brewed.

Base Malt
Lager Light Malt has been subjected to a gentler kilning cycle so that a lower coloured base malt is produced. This malt is made especially for brewing an all malt lager where a light colour is desirable. This base malt can also be used alongside Gladfield Wheat Malt to brew a delicate, bright, clean malt profile wheat beer where a low colour formation is desired.
Use: A base malt for any style of beer. This malt is light in colour, with a sweet, clean flavour.

The ATF Lil Haze has all the chewy juicy hoppy goodness of a NEIPA, but is just 5% ABV. The addition of lactose helps provide a velvety chewy texture and with over 300g of dry hops it is bursting with citrus and tropical fruit.

Base Malt
Gladfield’s American Ale Malt is perfect for brewers who have found that our regular Ale Malt adds too much of a malty, toasted flavour profile to certain beer styles. This base malt has been made from plump low protein Autumn barley varieties and then subjected to our traditional long cool germination period. The grains are then kilned using a special recipe that imparts a typical Ale colour for a cleaner, less toasted flavour. When brewed, this malt produces a vibrant, clean, yet solid hop‑forward malt profile and is perfect for producing American-style beers. NEIPA’s are an unfiltered IPA packed with hop flavour and aroma. Typically hazy in appearance with a soft bitterness and full rounded mouthful, NEIPA are all about hop flavour and aroma.
ATF Juicy Fruit features a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character from the whirlpool and dry-hop additions of Mosaic, Sabro, and Simcoe hops, as well as a soft creamy mouthfeel. The end result is a beer full of citrus juice character with extra pulp, thus the name Juicy Fruit.
NEIPA’s are particularly sensitive to oxidation and are best drunk young.
