Brick Road Wheat Malt makes great-tasting beer with Brick Road beer kits, or with Brick Road Hopped Malt extract cans, or in all-grain recipes when you want only the finest malt flavour.
This can will contribute a pale gold colour up to 8 EBC in 23L, 1.021 gravity points and will replace approx. 1.75 kg of extra light base grain in your wort. Extra Light is particularly good for Lagers, Pilsners, IPA’s and Pale Ales. Visit www.brickroadbrewing.com for recipe ideas.
This modern craft style XPA is an award-winner with its floral, fruity flavour balanced with a fresh, clean bitterness. Brick Road Pacific Pale Ale malt is already hopped to the perfect level. Just add 1kg of Brick Road Extra Light DME, 100g of dextrose and hops. Dry hop with Centennial, Amarillo and Citra for those amazing flavours. Super-good!
This kits includes:
- 1.5 kg Brick Road Pacific Pale Ale
- 1 kg Brick Road Extra Light DME
- 1 pkt US05 or BRY-97 Yeast
- 30 g Centennial hops
- 30 g Amarillo hops
- 30 g Citra hops
Required Extra
- 100g Dextrose
Instructions
-
Clean and sanitise fermenter, spoon, cup and jug.
-
Soften the malt can in hot water for about 5 minutes.
-
Pour 2 litres of boiling water into your 5.3L jug. Open the can and pour the contents into the jug. Add the 100g of dextrose.
-
Mix the concentrated wort and water well, then pour into your fermenter. Top up with cold quality brewing water to 19L for approx. 5% ABV. Add 1kg Brick Road DME. It doesn't matter if there are some clumps of DME, these will dissolve over time. Vigorously stir the wort with a large spoon to oxygenate it. Ensure the wort temperature is 18℃-22℃. Sprinkle the yeast over the wort.
-
Seal the fermenter lid and insert airlock. Ideally ferment at 18℃-22℃ for 10 - 14 days.
-
On Day 5 of fermentation, add the hops. Ideally add inside a hop bag and remove after 48 hours.
-
After 10 days, check the gravity. If the SG remains steady for three days, fermentation is complete. If in doubt, leave a few more days for better results. Keg or bottle your brew.
Neutral Flavour
This gluten free, hypoallergenic, non-GMO extract functions as a 1:1 substitute for LME for 100% extract brewing to produce gluten free beer. It can be used in any recipe as a unique liquid adjunct to boost initial gravities while increasing overall brewing capacity due to its unique, mild flavor. You can use with concentrated worts to produce almost any beer style.

Take the work out of cleaning corny kegs, carboys and brewing vessels with the Bucket Blaster keg and fermenter cleaner. The Bucket Blaster is a great way to get your kegs, fermenters, fermzilla, carboy's or other brewery gear clean while you attend to other tasks.
Simply set up the keg washer basin with your cleaner or sanitiser, set a keg or carboy on over the jet nozzle, power up pump and let the keg washer do the work.
This unit comes with a 15L bucket which doubles as a storage container when you are not using the system. Some other keg washers come with a very small reservoir making it a pain to move, liquid spills over the sides easily and generally they just do not work as well. This unit has a large 15L bucket making it much less likely for you to spill liquid on your floor.
This system includes a 2000 litre per hour pump, the 15L bucket, a powerful jet nozzle, 3/8 EVABarrier tubing, a Duotight tee piece, a grey and a black ball lock disconnect and the stainless stand.
You can find instructions on how to assemble, operate, and maintain the bucket blaster here.

Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is a common substance found in rocks as the minerals calcite and aragonite (most notably as limestone, which is a type of sedimentary rock consisting mainly of calcite) and is the main component of pearls and egg shells.
In brewing calcium carbonate may be used during the mash to increase the mash pH (reduce acidity), however it may not increase mash pH as much as desired. Click here to read a detailed analysis of calcium carbonate in brewing written by A.J. deLange.
In wine making calcium carbonate may be used to reduce acidity levels in must. It should only be used before fermentation and will reduce tartaric acid levels before malic or citric acids. It does not require cold stabilisation to precipitate out like potassium carbonate, but it will take longer and may affect flavour.
Calcium chloride is a crystalline salt with the chemical formula CaCl2. It is solid at room temperature and highly soluble in water. It is one of the primary components in the measurement of permanent water hardness.
In brewing calcium chloride may be added to brewing water to increase calcium levels. Proper calcium levels in brewing water can:
- reduce mash pH
- preserve mash enzymes
- increase extract yield
- improve yeast growth and flocculation
- accelerate oxalate removal
- reduce colour.
Chloride is believed to promote a palate fullness, sweetness, or mellowness within the flavour profile of beer.
Before adding salts to your brewing water you should obtain a water analysis report to enable you to calculate the amount of salts in your brewing water after making any additions. Refer to the Brewing Resources page for some links to water chemistry calculators.

The sulphate ion in calcium sulphate is thought to promote a drier beer, which in turn may allow bitterness and hop flavours and aromas to be more prominent. Adding calcium sulphate to brewing water is common when brewing pale ales and India pale ales.
